Now that summer has officially begun and the temperature continues to rise, the best place to spend your days in Camden is out on the lake! Megunticook Lake, a local favorite, stretches over 1,220 acres through two towns to offer water lovers a great nature escape.

Speckled with islands and winding channels, Megunticook provides space and beauty for all types of boaters, fishermen, and swimmers. Home to Fernald’s Neck Nature Conservancy preserve, boaters can explore Camden’s beauty while admiring the views of Maiden’s Cliff off of the adjacent Rt. 52.

For those without access to a boat, Megunticook Lake offers water lovers Barrett’s Cove, a child friendly beach right off of Rt. 52 towards Lincolnville. This small beach area displays all of the lake’s fabulous views while providing a quiet family getaway.

Whether you come by kayak, canoe, motor boat, or by foot, Megunticook Lake is a great spot to stay cool in the hot summer sun. So grab a towel and some sunscreen and join the Camden locals for a fun filled day out on the lake!
