Camden’s Best Place To: Go Hiking!
Want a fun and free way to appreciate the breathtaking views of Camden Harbor? Take a hike! Camden Hills State Park brings sightseers to the famous Mt. Battie tower, visible from Main Street in Camden. The top of Mt. Battie’s 800 foot peak displays incredible views of Penobscot Bay, Camden Harbor, and other surrounding islands. Vehicles can access this famous scene from Rt. 1 after paying a toll at the bottom of the summit.
But for those of you looking for an enjoyable but cost effective view of Camden’s beauty, the State Park offers multiple hiking trails. The Carriage Trail off of Mountain Street in Camden (otherwise known as Rt. 52) is a moderate hike, winding climbers through sun speckled trail. Hikers will enjoy a scenic 1 mile climb which connects to the State Park auto road and eventually the gorgeous ocean views. So pick up a sandwich from the Camden Deli and enjoy a family friendly way to discover Camden!
